Steel case piles are commonly used where ground is too weak to be load-bearing, or contains buried structures, pipes, tree roots etc. They are simple and economical to drive into the ground and provide flexibility, as they can be supplied in a variety of widths, and are cut down or joined to lengthen on site as required. Reinforcements are then added and the casings are filled with concrete.

In preparation for adding front, side and rear extensions to an existing detached house, the existing garage was demolished and its piled foundations were removed. 17 no. 168mm piles were excavated and installed due to the close proximity of a culverted river. We installed the drains and cast insitu reinforced ground beams and floor slabs.
This new build house of brick and block construction required 19 no. 168mm diameter steel cased piles. We excavated and installed the drains, and cast insitu the ground beams and floor slabs, ready for the bricklayers to start at DPC level.
This contemporary sips house (structural insulated panels) required 35 -168mm diameter steel cased piles up to a depth of 5 metres. We excavated and cast insitu reinforced concrete ground beams, installed the drains and cast reinforced concrete floor slabs ready to accommodate the sips panels.
